Broadcom has reportedly secured a significant order for HBM from SK Hynix, to be utilized in AI hardware for a major CSP, as part of a trend to reduce dependency on Nvidia. Hyperscalers like Google and Meta are diversifying their AI hardware suppliers, with Broadcom gaining prominence. CEO Hock Tan mentioned plans for XPU cluster deployments, signaling a shift away from Nvidia in the sector. While specific collaborations haven’t been named, Broadcom is believed to be working with major tech companies on custom AI chips. SK Hynix’s increased production to meet Broadcom’s demand might affect the rollout of its next-generation 1c DRAM.
