In a reminiscent of historical events, both James W. Marshall’s gold discovery in 1848 and the launch of ChatGPT 3.5 in November 2022 initiated large waves of change worldwide. The adoption of AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) has skyrocketed, with concerns arising regarding issues such as ethics, privacy, and security. The EU’s AI Act aims to address these concerns, emphasizing ethical regulations. Despite the AI boom, risks and side effects must not be overlooked, necessitating responsible usage and stringent policies for data access and processing. Companies are urged to maintain transparency in AI learning processes, ensuring that data feeds are documented and controlled. The protection of intellectual property and prevention of unauthorized training data usage are paramount. To mitigate risks, companies should adopt IT security practices for safeguarding AI models and consider mechanisms for resetting AI systems when needed. As the AI landscape continues to evolve, a responsible and regulated approach is essential to navigate challenges and maximize benefits.
