In a recent policy update, Microsoft has decided to include Chinese independent software vendors (ISVs) as “vetted partner solutions” in its Commercial Marketplace. This means that ISVs from China will now have the opportunity to sell their software globally via the platform, reaching millions of customers and potentially securing partner deals. This move by Microsoft, although surprising given Western restrictions on China, aims to provide Chinese ISVs with a chance to tap into a broader market. Additionally, Microsoft partners will have the option to resell products from Chinese ISVs. However, concerns have been raised regarding data privacy laws in China that could potentially compromise sensitive information. Despite this, Microsoft’s decision marks a significant step towards inclusivity in the tech marketplace.
